There was once a time when the world was about to fall into great peril. The world would cease to exist once Nyx would appear; the appearance of the ‘God’ would bring an end to it all.
But who would be foolish enough to call an entity like Nyx? The answer is simple. Humans. The Kirijo Group started gathering beings called Shadows, said to be connected to Nyx. It went well for a while, the experiments were proceeding smoothly. Until there was an accident. Said accident released Nyx prematurely as well as created the Dark Hour, a hidden hour between midnight and 1 am, and a place called Tartarus. A humanoid weapon called Aigis was sent out to eliminate Nyx.
Pharos was born when Aigis sealed Death, or rather Nyx, into the body of the main character of the game. However, Pharos didn’t make his presence known for the next 7 years. One can only assume that the part of Death that is Pharos was too weak to exist immediately and took a while to project himself. It may also have been because the main character did not come into contact with Shadows or the Dark Hour up until that point.
When he first appears in front of the main character, he tells him sign a contract. Said contract says that the main character will accept whatever fate he chooses. Pharos takes that contract with him and disappears, just as the Dark Hour stops. He appears again various times during the game, always during the Dark Hour. He remains as mysterious as ever but we learn that he is missing parts of his memory; he doesn’t remember anything about being a part of Death or about the thing he later refers to as ‘The End’. At the same time, we learn that Pharos remembers more and more the more time passes. He’s only seen talking to the main character, it remains unclear if the other characters can see him or not.
Pharos asks to main character to be his friend and slowly, their relationship grows stronger. Every time a certain monster on the night of a full moon is defeated, Pharos remembers more about himself and his role. Eventually, he remembers the End/Fall and tells the main character about it. He seems to live through the main character and slowly learns how to be human.
As the main character and his gang defeat the final monster on the full moon of November, Pharos finally remembers everything and bids the main character farewell, telling him that their bond will never break. He then fades away to become a part of Death again.
Personality:
Pharos seems to be an easygoing kid. He smiles a lot and talks a lot but at the same time, Pharos is creepy and says things that we would call weird. He doesn’t seem to be hurt by rude comments; he often enough laughs them off or changes the subject.
He’s serious about important subjects though, he doesn’t try to joke. At the beginning, Pharos doesn’t seem to be affected by the seriousness of the situation like he doesn’t understand it at all. Later, it affects him more and more. He gets riled up and upset over the thought of losing a friend and he starts worrying about Minato and what he thinks and feels.
He is as polite as he can be but at the same time, Pharos can be incredibly rude since he sometimes can’t tell if something another person said is important. He speaks his mind and often doesn’t realize he hurt that other person’s feelings.
Human emotions seem to confuse and scare him, especially since he doesn’t know how to handle them.
